our story

GB Construction was established in 2001 and is led by Mike and Nathan, who began their careers together completing their apprenticeships and learning the trade from experienced builder Colin Thwaites. With more than 17 years of industry experience each, they continue to build the company on a shared commitment to quality workmanship, careful detailing, and a straightforward approach to communication.

Simon & Fiona Ireland

“We had the pleasure of working with Mike and his team at GB Construction on one of our very special projects in Christchurch, and they were exceptional from start to finish.

The quality of their construction, their attention to detail, and their general work ethic were outstanding. But what stood out just as much was how they operated as a team: collaborative, professional, and genuinely a pleasure to deal with at every stage. They brought the project together seamlessly, and the result is a home our client is absolutely delighted with.

A great build is never the work of one party alone, and Mike and his team understood that better than most. We can't wait to work with them again.”

Their attention to detail was outstanding, with every element carefully considered and executed to the highest standard. The quality of workmanship, professionalism, and pride they took in their work were evident throughout the entire build. Communication was excellent, timelines were managed well, and any challenges were handled proactively and with great care.

The finished result is a beautifully crafted home that reflects true quality and precision.
I would not hesitate to recommend GB Construction to anyone seeking excellence.”
